First of the season

The kids christened my parent's new pool today! The water was a bit chilly, but they didn't notice. We had one small incident. KayTar was sitting on the shelf in front of me splashing happily and I turned just long enough to tell BubTar he could go ahead and get in because we had dry clothes for him and I heard "Splash!". I turned to see KayTar falling into the deeper water. She had crawled off the shelf in the 15 seconds or so my attention was on BubTar. Her head had just dipped underwater when I caught her. It happened so fast! I won't be turning my head again! She was completely fine, she didn't even cough or sputter. She just said "Pss" which is her version of "Oops." and she kept pointing towards the shelf edge and signing "Down." In spite of her unexpected dip, she had a wonderful time splashing around. She was extremely upset when it was time to get out of the water!

Tomorrow we have an ENT appointment to get clearance for her hearing aid! Woohoo!

Pss!

Oh, those moments just stop your heart, don't they?

Oh, how I hope that I have more luck with Mme L and the water this summer!

How jealous am I that you guys are in a pool... I still have the heat on in the house... can't imagine stripping nearly naked outside right now.

My huz says he remembers falling in the pool when he was around three, and his uncle plucked him out. But he was angry that his uncle rescued him... he was enjoying watching the bubbles rise to the surface above him... had no concept of the danger he was in.

Not jealous of KayTar falling in...

Wow- that looks like fun! I can't wait for the swimming. I CAN wait to wear a bathing suit in public, though...

Ooh, I can't wait to go swimming! Sounds like everyone had fun - despite KayTar's little dip.

Glad it was such a nice time! But oooohhh those quick incidents. Makes you remember why they say water is the time to be helicopter mom. Thanks goodness all is well. And GOOD LUCK at the ENT!

Wow, that looks like so much fun! That is so scary about KayTar falling in. Thank God you were so close and were able to get to her quickly.

Do you know about Adam's fear of swimming? We tried to go last week and never got out of the locker room. He cried uncontrollably for about 10 minutes. I never even got his swimsuit on him!!! We have swim class starting next week and I have no idea what we're going to do! Sheesh.

Looks divine - though that splash would have scared me to pieces.

ACK! Okay, there is an item that you simply MUST get for KayTar. It's a swim trainer. There's a thing that holds thin pads on the front and back and it sort of bungee/corsets to her torso. Bugga LIVES in his during the summer. Our neighbors have an inground pool and without the swim trainer I'd be a neurotic mess. I've got to order a new one for Bugga, and I'll forward the site to you when I do. Does BubTar swim? He might love it too!
