So the trip was hellish, mostly. But in five or ten years, I probably won't remember any of that and I surely won't remember specific details. What I will remember is what the photographs tell me, and they tell me my kids spent a large portion of time with beautifully beaming faces and fancy clothes. They will remind me that BubTar and I took a walk together and he climbed a "mountain". They will remind me of the fun time he had in the swimming pool, not of the high fever he spiked a few hours later.
And so, this is what I will share with you. The beautiful side of our trip, because there were beautiful moments stuck in between the really stressful, anxiety-filled, germ-infested moments. Looking at these photos, you might actually forget what the trip was really like...and I think that is a good idea.
And a couple of true colors photos as well:
PS: BubTar is still sick, we are most definitely headed to the pediatrician today. He was running a steady 103 yesterday and it took Motrin and Tylenol before finally coming down to a more reasonable 100.6. Dare I say what I suspect it might be? I think I'll refrain, but I will say we are headed in for our first throat swabbing of the new year. Seven days in. What a year.
Well, at least you made it. Maybe you are just getting all the germs done with at the beginning of the year? I hope Bub-Tar is on the mend soon.
Hang in there, Kyla. Maybe you are getting everyhing over with in the first two weeks...Poor BubTar. Hope the doctor has something to help him get better soon.
Those pictures are beautiful!
They look so nice all dressed up!! Again, I hope BubTar feels better soon and I hope even more that KayTar doesn't get it! Poor guys. Poor Kyla. I hope you can share more happy fun pictures soon!
Oh those are beautiful and it's true - you will forget how hard it was and remember the good things about the trip...
The pictures are great. I'm so sorry you're so beat from it all. It was supposed to be a vacation. Erg.
BTW, I have more unread posts than that in Bloglines and I was home all weekend. Don't be afraid to mark all as read.
i am so glad you are home and the crappy flight behind you.
and i love those pictures and those sweet faces. i am putting our xmas card in an album because someday al our kids will meet. . .
hope bubtar is ok soon...
Running on empty
Sorry about that.
But I agree, probably least said soonest mended on the trials of the trip.
And they ARE lovely children in lovely clothes which make beautiful photos. Fave? The closeup of their two faces with such characteristic expressions.
See you in a few days!
So nice to remember the happy moments instead of dwelling on the bad. They could not be any cuter in their fancy clothes.
Hoping BubTar feels MUCH better soon!!!
oh the end of this made me grit my teeth for you.
but the photos. I hoped there were some beautiful images that will remain as the bad memories fade.
Good idea, let's just remember the good stuff for now.
I agree with Heidi, you guys are just ahead of the game with the illnesses this year, you might be basking in great health for the rest of the winter. Your kids have amazing eyes! Bubtar's gonna have to fight the girls off, I hope you're ready!
They are so gorgeous Kyla!
I wish the sickies would stay far, far away from yall. Your family deserves a break from all that!
Hope he starts to feel better soon
ENOUGH WITH THE SICK!!!!!
there I have banished the pox. ;)
I think that's why we take so many pictures - to remember how lucky we actually were all that time.
I am so glad you are back. For someone who was so sick, that Bubtar sure is a doll in his tie.
I think your perspective that someday you will look back on this positively is very "glass half full" of you. I think I would be vowing to never leave the house with my children again. In fact, I took my Weekids to a playground this morning and am vowing it already. You are a supermama.
So...was it Strep?
Still a fever? Poor bubba.
Thanks for sharing your adorable children - I never tire of seeing their adorable faces (even when having meltdowns, they're cute)!
that's it. i think you need a ritual cleansing of your entire house. and a smudge. you need a smudge.
damn they are cute. i adore polka dots.
Ah, gorgeous photos!
And I've taken that "selective recordkeeping" route as well: there have been several trips I've taken where I will ONLY write down the happy things that happen so that when I look back on it I have fond memories.
Of course, since I did that, I KNOW there was some "drama" involved, but it isn't recorded in a raw, painful way as it would have been (such as when I was in the eighth grade and I KNEW the other girls on the trip were WAY prettier than me!)
Beautiful shots of the kids.
Poor BubTar. My fingers are crossed for him and for you. He's even more adorable with those teeth missing, if that's even possible.
i will keep my fingers crossed thst it's not what you fear.
WEll, January is overrated anyway...dratted germs and throat swabbings and such. I'll be February makes a much better start of the year...
WEll, I hope so at least.
Glad you're home. :-)
Those last two are just so precious . . . one day you will look back and laugh . . . hopefully. ((HUGS))
Great, great pictures! Even the realism ones at the end.
At least you have gorgeous kids, right? I love KayTar's dress and BubTar looks like he's one day going to have his own TV show.
They're even beautiful when they cry.
