Quickly

KayTar is still sick. We saw the pediatrician yesterday. Her throat is very red, so she did a strep test, which came back negative thankfully. I can't imagine another strep-stravaganza with BubTar's 5th birthday this Sunday. Her fever has come down...it is between 100-101 without medication now. She is gaggier (more gaggy?) than normal, and her intake is down...but not gone completely which is wonderful. She vomited again last night and has had diarrhea today (it doesn't seem fair that her two bowel settings are constipation and diarrhea). She has had one diaper today that was the teeniest tiniest bit wet, but that is good enough for me. She's taken in about 5 oz of fluid today and she also ate a jar of applesauce, which felt like a major accomplishment. Hopefully when she wakes up from nap, she will be willing to drink a bit more.

She was kind of adorable at the pediatrician's yesterday. I'm trying to help her to get past her phobia of doctors so we talk a lot about it. Before the doctor came in I kept saying, "Are you ready to see the doctor?" and she would sign "Ready." and then she would hear noise in the hallway and grab me and say "Bye bye! Bye bye!". She wanted to be ready, but she just couldn't do it. Also, when the pediatrician was listening to her heart, she signed "I cry. I cry." while she was actually crying and the pediatrician thought it was terribly pitiful. It truly was. Almost heartbreaking, this poor wee girl who is always at the doctor's and is still so frightened of it all. I hope one day it is a bit easier for her. Although yesterday she did calm down a bit, she didn't scream the entire time...so I count that as a victory of sorts.

If I haven't been by your blog in the past couple days, I will try and come by soon. My brain just doesn't process quite as well when KayTar is sick, and my free time becomes almost non-existent. Right now she is taking a nap, so I snuck on for an update.

Poor KayTar! Seriously, the image of her sighing "ready" then saying "bye bye" and THEN "I cry"... so sad.

I really hope she gets better soon. She is such a trooper not to scream too much while at the docs.

Oh, she screams alright...it just wasn't 100% of the time like in the past. The pediatrician and I were able to talk without having to do so over her wails. *lol*

What I wouldn't give for KayTar to start feeling better. I know this has to be so hard with her being sick for so long. It's great that she had some applesauce today...hope her appetite comes back soon.

The signing in the doctor's office made me smile (because she's so dang smart) and want to cry (because you're right...it's so pitiful!). I'll be thinking about you!!!!

I hope KayTar improves minute by minute and you all can rest.

Oh that stinks that she's so sick! Get well soon wishes...for her sake and yours. I know that submergedness that sickness brings. Your world comes to a screeching halt while everyone else's keeps spinning.

Hey Happy Birthday in advance to BubTar!!!!

"I cry, I cry" for you and KayTar, too...

She's smart as a whip, that one.

And it will get better. I hope she does, soon!
