Attack of the Lalaloopsy!

One day while KayTar was doing her homework, she mentioned that BubTar was creeped out by her Lalaloopsy dolls. We decided to give him a little scare and KayTar told me to put her in his bed, on his pillow, face up, body turned backwards. It.was.AWESOME!

The first time was so fun that it turned into a little game and I started leaving it places to surprise him!

Keeping his shirt warm...

Practicing his sax...

He left her for me one night while I was showering...

One of my favorites!

Ready for school...

This one was THE BEST! He actually yelped.
He was looking around his room for her and
didn't look at the ladder until he was on it. AGH!

Hiding in his sock drawer...

Waiting for him to pack his lunch...

In the car, waiting for him one morning...

On his reading throne, enjoy Calvin and Hobbes...

One weekend, I let him help me hide her for KayTar, too!
Waiting in her wheelie...

Hanging out on the IV pole...

Hiding in her lamp...

The doll has been on hiatus for a couple of weeks now, because I think we were all getting a little too used to it...but I predict she will show up again soon! :)

Light Bulb Moment.

A few weeks ago, the light in the bathroom burned out. After the kids were in bed, I went in the bathroom to take my shower and suddenly remember that the light had burned out, so I asked Josh to change it (he can reach it without standing on something). He obliged, and as he stood there doing me a favor, I was struck by a rare opportunity. You see, our bathroom light is on the ceiling and has a glass fixture over it that is held in place by several small screws. To remove the cover, it take two hands...one to unscrew the screws and another to hold it up so it does not fall and break. So there my sweet husband was with two hands above his head, concentrating on the task at hand with the butt-end of a new light bulb in his mouth, wearing a t-shirt and his boxer shorts...and I thought, NOW is the perfect time to pants this guy. So I silently crept up behind him, gave his shorts a little tug, and ran! And poor Josh, he had no choice but to stand there and finish what he was doing, pants-less. When I came back in, there he was...still diligently working on the light fixture. I was, of course, laughing so hard that I was crying which made him start laughing, so now he was pants-less, hands above his head changing a light bulb, holding another light bulb in his mouth while laughing hysterically, and trying not to drop anything. It was a priceless moment, one that will bring a smile to my face and laughter to my heart for many years to come. Oh, and in case you are wondering, yes, I eventually helped him with his shorts...and no, he has not retaliated...YET! ;)

The Patient Prankster.

Last Saturday (and this Saturday, too, actually), KayTar, Josh, R (SIL/BF, or as KayTar introduced her to the doctor, "My dad's sister.") went out to dinner at Chili's (BubTar has been out of pocket every weekend since summer started, lots of sleepovers for that popular guy).

We were sitting in the booth, and Josh pulls a little sock out of his pocket and says, "I don't know what is going on with the dryer, but this is the THIRD sock I have pulled out of these shorts' pockets."

I said, "I don't really think the dryer could have done that...maybe it was a certain little someone who got bored while watching TV in our bed (which is where I lay out laundry, before putting it away)."

So Josh said, "KayTar, do you know anything about socks in my pockets?"

She started cracking up! "Yes! I did it! I was laying in your bed and I opened up your pockets and stuck me and BubTar's socks in there!" She mimed how she sneakily opened each pocket and put the socks in, which may have been the best/funniest part of the whole thing, then laughed some more.

A while later, Josh went to the bathroom and came back...with another sock in his hand! It was so funny and she played it just right, planting the socks and then waiting for the reaction, instead of prompting him to check his pockets or something obvious like that. It was so funny and she was so pleased with herself.

****

Last night at Chili's, we had a waiter in his late teens/early twenties with bleached blonde hair sort of swooped over to the side, and when he came to take our drink orders, KayTar shouted, "OH MY GOSH, YOU ARE SOOOO..." And then everyone at the table collectively shushed her, because seriously, we never know what is going to come out of her mouth. We all laughed, including the waiter, who said something like, "Now that we've gotten that awkwardness out of the way, I guess don't have to be professional with you guys and we can all relax." As soon as he left, KayTar was sighing with dramatic swooniness over his handsomeness and suggested that R could date him. Haha! At least she knows he's out of her age-range. ;) At the end of the night, we asked her if she wanted to leave him a note on the back of the receipt, since we had kept her from shouting  about how cute he was. Here is the note....

"You are so cute!"
Hopefully she outgrows this by the teen years!

Beware of Auto-Correct

I'm sure everyone on the planet knows about the website Damn You, AutoCorrect! by now. I find it outrageously hilarious, like laugh-until-I-cry-every-time-I-read-it-hilarious and once-it-made-me-laugh-so-hard-that-I-had-an-asthma-attack-hilarious. If you haven't seen it before, you are missing out.

The reason I bring this up is that I had my very own auto-correct incident a couple of weeks ago. When KayTar was having those issues with hypoglycemia during her last illness, I sent the pediatrician an email and ended it by saying, "I just wanted to touch base with you..." However, my iPod thought better of it and decided that what I actually wanted to say was "I just wanted to touch ass with you." and promptly changed my wording. Luckily, I gave my email a quick once over before sending it and I caught the errant auto-correction before I inadvertently and inappropriately hit on our pediatrician, because as much as I like her...I don't really like her in THAT way. ;)
