And for KayTar.
Our song, for no other reason than she loves for me to sing it to her and with her. I have at least a hundred memories of her, content in my arms with this as the soundtrack. Healthy memories, ill memories, daytime memories, nighttime memories, home memories, hospital memories...a rainbow of memories with her, me, and our song playing in the background.
Hey there Delilah
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true
Hey there Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice it's my disguise
I'm by your side
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good
Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all
Oh it's what you do to me
[Hey There Delilah lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame
Hey there Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here's to you
This ones for you
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me.

That's a song I've always liked.
That is one of my favorites too. I'm impressed you know all the words.
breaks my heart all the way over here, that little one.
They love us singing to them. That song is a beauty. It's gonna be in my head all night. And that is a good thing.
so sweet. I have tears.
I love singing with the kids. Music and singing in the car is a big happy memory I have from my own childhood.
Sweet sweet sweet.

Using My Words
I love that laundrylessons left a comment on this particular song. Plain White T's? It just seems so fitting.
I dig it too. I just played the video so that I could listen to it. You just reminded me that I really need to buy some new CD's.
I've always loved this one, too!
That song is filled comfort. It will likely hold a special spot in KayTar's heart.

Humming Deliah now, and probably for the rest of the day. :)
I have such a great image of the two of you together with this soundtrack to it all.
I think that is the first time I have ever read the lyrics to that song.
Beautiful song :)
Oh, I just love that song! At first I thought it was pretty annoying, then the guy who sings it went to the radiothon at our Childrens hospital and sang the song on his own time becuase he was in the Chicago area. The song took on a whole new meaning to me, and I just love it now!
Oh, that's our Lila's song too, but we change the chorus, to Hey there my Lila Belle!
so sweet!
So, I'm sitting in the kitchen reading your blog. I click on the like to the music video. The music starts to play. From the living room my 14 year old son says, "Hey, Mom, are you listening to Hey There Delilah?"
Then my 45 year old self answers, (feeling all cool and hip to be listening to music a 20 something woman and a teen someting boy would know) "Yeah, why do you like it?"
...
"No, it;s the dumbest song I ever heard!"
Hey, he's only 14. What the heck does he know!
Love that song. If you were to get only one of their albums, which would it be?
