Laughter and Tears.

I'm a bit late on this because of the Shoe situation, but I simply had to nominateMad for a April ROLF for this hilariouspost. I have gone back many times on less than humorous days (like today) and it never ceases to give me the giggles. Miss M is the most adorable doll torturer I have ever laid eyes on.

Here you are, Mad. Thanks for all the laughter.
April '07 ROFL

On to the tears! Today we went to the pediatrician. It is strep. The nurse came in first thing and took the swab and then we waited to see the doctor. I heard her in the hallway exclaim, "Oh no!" and I knew she was looking at the culture results. One of the first things she said was, "Is KayTar symptomatic?" And then she said, "Isn't it sad that he can't even be sick without us thinking of her?" which is very true. In the same thought process of "Poor BubTar." I think, "Oh no, KayTar might get this." So BubTar is on ten days of antibiotics (which he chose over a one time shot) and we worked out a plan for KayTar, too, hoping to sidestep the horror that was the Strepstravaganza. As soon as she shows symptoms, I am going to give her a dose of BubTar's antibiotics and then take her in the next day for a shot of antibiotics so we don't have to try and get her to swallow 10 days of antibiotics. Hopefully, acting quickly will keep us from dehydration and hospitalization. I cannot explain how thankful I am for our pediatrician and the excellent care she provides my kids with. I am much calmer knowing we have a plan in place and I am hoping it works to prevent anything serious this go-round.

I've been running the house a bit like a hospital. The kids aren't allowed in the same rooms. I wash up to my elbows between dealing with each of them and keep sanitizer in my pocket for the in between times. I'm Lysoling every few hours. Spraying the sofa and blankets with Febreeze AntiMicrobial. But within five minutes of being home from the doctor, as I was saying goodbye to my mother, BubTar got right in KayTar's face and said "Boo!" splattering her with his germy saliva, I am sure. *sigh* At least there is a plan!

Poor BubTar is really sick. He hasn't kept anything down since Wednesday night, maybe he's gotten a bit of fluid down and kept it in long enough to get into his system. He was sleeping with his hand around his throat because it hurts so badly. He is so hungry, but he can't eat without vomiting. When he does eat, he cries from the throat pain. He is craving donuts and can't stop talking about them, but I know he can't handle them right now. I promised there will be donuts as soon as his medicine kicks in and he feels better, but the promise of donuts is not the same as eating on RIGHT THIS MINUTE, of course. I hope his medicine works quickly and my sweet boy can feel better soon.

Edited to add: After BubTar's first dose of medicine, he said, "I just have taken the shot." The kid cracks me up.

Hey, I left a comment earlier and it didn't show up. Chin up, Kyla. That's a lot of stress to be carrying around. I hope BubTar is feeling better soon.

Thanks again. This time from Miss M.

Oh boy, do I know this. Mad sent me over here, because we have been battling strep since January. So far among our four family members there have been ten episodes of strep.

I'm feeling helpless to prevent it. It's not funny anymore (not that it ever was).

So I understand, a little (without also having to contend with KayTar's medical issues, of course, which increases your stress exponentially, no doubt).

BubTar is just breaking my heart. I hate to think of him being so sick. I can't imagine feeling that bad...to sick for donuts. What a terrible week!

Hope he starts feeling better VERY soon and that somehow KayTar doesn't get this as well.

(((BIG HUGS)))
