Evacuation Update: Day Whatever

We're okay! We are staying at my parents' house, and although the quarters are close (11-13 people have been staying here), we have power, water, and food.

Our house is mostly fine. The fence was destroyed. BubTar's window was broken and let in water, causing mildew and water damage. We have a tree uprooted and lying on the powerline. The trampoline net was ripped off and the trampoline itself is a little worse for wear. But all in all, not too bad.

Tomorrow is KayTar's surgical consult for the g-tube. I'd talk more about it, but I don't have the time.

I got the offical paperwork from her hearing test yesterday. Profound loss.

So much to say, so little privacy and Internet time. Just wanted to hop on and say we're doing just fine, minus Internet withdrawal and being completely stir crazy.

    So glad to hear that you are safe and sound, and that the damage to your property isn't too severe. I hope you continue to keep your sanity during your exile!

    I hope the consult goes well, too. I'll look forwaerd to updates whan you find the time and privacy.

    This, to me, is classic Kyla: my kid has profound hearing loss and needs a g-tube, but we're fine! It's all good!

    glad you are doing fairly well, all things considered. evacuation isn't a vacation, that's for sure! ;)

    my hubby is heading out that way today to help out a bit and meet with some pastors in the area.

    I've been thinking about you LOTS!

    I can't imagine one long sleepover with that many people. If you all make it through this without killing one another, I'd say it was a huge success!

    Hope you'll be back in your home soon and that life can get back to normal.

    Great to hear from you! I'm glad you're all safe.

    I spent time on several chat boards for severe-to-profound hearing loss when I was writing some marketing pieces for a client this summer. If you want the URL's shoot me an email and I would be happy to send them to you. Folks afflicted with that type of hearing loss are very informed on the various hearind aid technologies and the boards offer a wealth of information.

    I read the words G-tube consult and my heart turned over. I read the words "profound loss" and it fell right into my stomach. Water damage...eh. Down fence. No biggie. You are a rock Kyla. A rock. I am totally and completely in awe of you.
